Round wheat skins are our starting point
For this pilot, look for round dumpling or potsticker wrappers, roughly 3½ inches / 9 cm across. Our filling portion and cooking settings are development targets for that size, not a guarantee across brands.
Our starting point
Round wheat dumpling skins, suitable for pan-frying.
A different project
Wonton skins, rice paper and spring-roll pastry need their own instructions.
Read the packet before you buy
Where to look
Check refrigerated or frozen sections in Asian grocery stores and larger supermarkets. Availability varies. Ask for dumpling skins if you cannot find them; confirm the actual packet rather than buying a lookalike.
Protect the stack
Follow the package’s thawing directions. Don’t pull apart frozen skins. Keep unused wrappers covered and take out one at a time; drying makes sealing harder. Lightly moisten the edge for sealing as appropriate for the product.
What a label does—and doesn’t—tell you
A packet labeled “gyoza wrappers” may be suitable for a specific Chinese-style recipe. It does not make the dishes or traditions identical. This pilot teaches one Chinese-style pan-fried path; other dumplings deserve their own guides.
Our testing status
We have not yet kitchen-tested wrapper brands for this site. Package photos and brand-specific recommendations will follow actual trials. The illustrations above show shape only, not a verified package.
